Yay People Yay!

For over 50 years, the youth-performance group “Yay People Yay!” (based on the real-life Up with People!) has been delighting the world with their unique brand of perky all-American youth-tainment. Tonight, the group’s big-business sponsors have rented a Broadway house and hired two big musical-theater stars (as themselves) to host a one-night only event to celebrate the group and, in this time of global existential doubt, to offer a rousing, toe-tapping defense of the human race. But as word of a sudden environmental catastrophe begins to circulate, the evening goes awry, and the facade of optimism and happiness falls away into a starker admission of the reality confronting us.
